Mazarrón suggests improvements to the RM-332 widening plan
Strategic alterations would be beneficial when the Mazarrón-Puerto becomes a dual carriageway
It has been announced by the Town Hall of Mazarrón that two formal objections are to be raised regarding the planned conversion of the RM-332 road between the town and Puerto de Mazarrón into a dual carriageway, a project which has been demanded for a couple of decades and which it is beginning to seem may actually come to fruition in the foreseeable future.
Mayor Ginés Campillo explains that the first of the objections regards the location of a roundabout which is planned on the “new” road, which at present is designed to be created between the chapel of rest and the petrol station. Instead of this. The Town Hall suggests moving the roundabout to a spot where it will coincide with the area which can be developed nearer the port, presumably roughly at the junction with the small road which leads to Los Lorentes.
The second objection concerns the stretch of the new road which will go through the area of El Alamillo, and which at the moment runs the risk of cutting off a part of the residential area from the rest of Puerto de Mazarrón – this is obviously not a desirable outcome.
As Deputy Mayor Jesús García points out, it is a shame that the council can make their views known only by raising objections to the project once it has already been published, rather than being consulted at the design stage!
In the meantime, the demands for repairs to the existing road surface, which is in a very poor state of repair, are to be reiterated. It was actually announced last year that a budget of 1.4 million euros had been set aside for the re-surfacing, but as yet no visible work has been carried out at all, and for a road which serves approximately 19,000 drivers per day this is not acceptable!

Decklid Auto Services is a fully licensed and legal British-run garage based in Mazarrón, Murcia in southern Spain, run by David since he and his family came to Spain in 2005.
Since then they have constantly worked hard to continue improving the workshop and to provide more and more services, using the experience David gained while working for three years in a Spanish garage before setting up on his own. His goal now is to provide the best possible service to his British, Spanish and European clients, and recent reviews in the local media in Murcia agree that David at Decklid Auto Services is the one to visit with all your vehicle needs in the area of Mazarrón.
