Where is the Mazarron Country Club?
Where is the nearest airport for the Mazarrón Country Club Urbanisation?
The Mazarrón Country Club is in the Region of Murcia, (Región de Murcia) in the south-west of Spain. The resort is located within the municipality of Mazarrón, close to the town of Mazarrón and the Puerto de Mazarrón, about a 30 minute drive inland from the Mar Menor and a 15 minute drive from the Mediterranean coastline at the Puerto de Mazarrón. The Mar Menor is Europe’s largest salt water lake, and is separated from the Mediterranean sea by a narrow channel, so although the water is still salty, it is non-tidal, providing superb sailing conditions and safe bathing, with dozens of soft sandy beaches, which slope very gently into the water. The Mediterranean coastline has dozens of beaches, offering a wide chouice of bathing conditions and services.
This stretch of coastline is known as the Costa Cálida, or warm coast, Murcia being the warmest land-based region of Spain throughout the year. ( as opposed to the islands of the Canaries, Balearics)
Mazarrón is strategically located, with good Motorway links to both the Capital of the Region of Murcia, Murcia City, Cartagena, a major port and cruise ship destination,Mazarrón, with over 30 kilometres of open beaches, and the nearby towns of Alhama de Murcia and Totana, both of which are on the edge of the Sierra Espuña natural park, an area popular with walkers and lovers of the great outdoors.
Mazarrón and the Port of Mazarrón offer a full range of supermarkets, plenty of shops, weekly street market, library, Health centre, dentists, hairdressers, banks, schools, restaurants and good sports facilities, and the nearby towns of Fuesnte Álamo, Totana and Alhama also amplify the wealth of facilities nearby.
The Mazarrón Country Club is also in the centre of an area which is highly popular with ex-pats, with the Camposol and Condado de Alhama urbanisations nearby, both as a holiday destination, location for a holiday property or for residential living, so offers plenty of opportunities to interact with the ex-pat community and join one of the many clubs, societies, sporting clubs or voluntary associations in the area.
There is minimal public transport, so hiring a car is highly recommended for anyone considering visiting the urbanisation on holiday. The use of seat belts is obligatory in Spain, and all children under the age of 12 must be secured in cars using child seats and restraints, so make sure to advise car hire companies of child ages if booking a rental car for family use.
Links to airports:
The San Javier airport is about a 30 minute drive, and the Alicante airport a 1 hour 15 minutes drive from the urbanisation.
The Corvera International Airport is due to open in the summer of 2014 and is a 20 minute drive from the urbanisation.
Incoming flight details can be found on the Aena.es website which has key sections in English.
There are some direct bus services from the resort, so a taxi or hire car is highly advisable.
