Track Renfe trains live from your phone
New website shows real-time positions for high-speed and long-distance services
Renfe has rolled out a handy new website across Spain, where you can follow high-speed, long-distance and medium-distance trains in real time. It's a step up in keeping passengers informed, especially after all the recent talk about disruptions across Spanish rail networks. You can check it out at tiempo-real.largorecorrido.renfe.com.The tool lets you see the full map with trains moving live, pick any one to track or zoom into a station for details. Each train shows up as a circular icon, giving you its route, last and next stop plus expected arrival times. You get the origin and destination too, stops marked in colours for passed or upcoming ones, and estimated times at each station.
It even includes Cercanías and Rodalies commuter lines in Madrid and Barcelona, respectively, and Renfe also plans to add QR codes on some of its trains for quick access straight to the site.
Renfe is offering new services to help with travel planning. This follows their recent launch of a bus replacement company due to expected rail disruptions, announced earlier this month. The company has also started publishing punctuality stats and incident reports.
"With this initiative, which has also been available since November for the Cercanías and Rodalies networks, Renfe is making real-time information about their train available to passengers," the company notes.
For anyone relying on trains daily or for trips, it's a welcome update. Whether you're in Madrid, Málaga or Murcia, this makes rail travel less of a lottery. No more guessing if your connection is on time. Just scan the map and stay ahead.
