September 26 Free guided tour of myths and legends in Fortuna

An evening tour with stories of 19^th-century bandits and a minotaur-like beast!

Coinciding with World Tourism Day, this guided tour is being held in the evening of Saturday 26^th September, showing participants locations related to a couple of the myths and legends associated with the town of Fortuna in eastern Murcia.

Among these legends are the tales surrounding Jaime “El Barbudo”, a bandit who roamed the Murcia countryside in the early 19^th century, and El Cerigüelo, a mythical beast similar “to the minotaur which had the body of a bull, a bow’s tail, hooves and a generally “extraordinary” appearance despite its vaguely human facial features. The creature was said to be a harbinger of rain and could be seen in the countryside at night, reportedly close to the Cueva Negra in Forttuna as well as in the areas of Mula and Cehegín.

The visit begins at 20.00 and the tourist office of Fortuna and is expected to last around 90 minutes with stops at some of the most important buildings in the town. Online bookings are available here.
