It's the time of year when the almond groves of southern Murcia begin to burst into pink and white blossom, and although as recently as 25 years ago there was no chance of seeing the flowers before February it is now common for the countryside to be bathed in colour by the end of January in the west of the municipality of Cartagena.
In celebration of this annual sign that spring is on its way, the 4th annual "Cartagena Oeste en Flor" festival is being held in the village of Tallante and Los Puerto de Santa Bárbara over the weekend of 31st January and 1st February, with a range of events and activities including, meals for all the family, guided walks in the countryside, traditional music and dancing from "cuadrillas" groups, an arts and crafts market, live entrtainment and much more.
Everyone is invited to come and join in the fun and celebrate the beauty of nature in this attractive part of the Cartagena countryside!
