Italian fugitive arrested in Alicante after fleeing 20 year sentence in Italy for violent robberies
The 31-year-old was part of a gang that targeted elderly people's homes, using violence and causing serious injuries

Police in Alicante have arrested an Italian fugitive who had been on the run after being sentenced to 20 years in prison for violently targeting the homes of elderly people.
The 31-year-old had a European Arrest Warrant issued by Italian authorities for violent robbery and causing serious injuries. These crimes took place in 2024 in Monza, Italy, where he was part of a gang dedicated to breaking into homes. The group did not hesitate to use violence against the residents, all of whom were elderly, and some were seriously injured during the attacks.
Italian authorities issued the warrant after his conviction, and suspicions soon arose that he might be hiding in the Alicante province. Investigators began a thorough search, quickly locating him in the city. A careful plan was put in place to make sure his arrest was carried out safely.
The operation was made possible thanks to close coordination and the exchange of information between Italian authorities and Spain’s National Police. Following his arrest, the man was brought before the Central Investigating Court of the National Court, which is handling the procedures for his extradition back to Italy.
