5 best golf courses in Orihuela Costa
The Orihuela Costa is home to some of the best golf courses in Europe
The southern Costa Blanca is fast becoming one of the most popular tourist destinations in all of Spain thanks to its vast stretches of sandy shoreline, multicultural gastronomic offerings and unbeatable nightlife.
Orihuela Costa in Alicante is by now world-renowned as a golfers paradise thanks to several of the top courses in Europe. The pleasant micro-climate of the Costa means that both novices and professionals can enjoy the outdoors year-round, and the golf clubs frequently attract international sports men and women, as well as major tournaments.
Several of the top golf courses are situated within a few kilometres of the Orihuela Costa’s blue-flag beaches and favourite resorts, such as La Zenia and Cabo Roig, and we’ve rounded up five of the best 18 holes.
1. Las Ramblas Golf Club
Las Ramblas Golf Resort is a fully professional 18-hole golf course stretching over a 5770-metre plot. It was designed by leading golf course designer Pepe Gancedo and the first ball was hit back in 1991.
The course at Las Ramblas is set in a mountainous terrain covered in exuberant Mediterranean vegetation, which makes it a challenging arena but also one of the Orihuela Costa’s most picturesque. The course offers spectacular views from every hole but there are also plenty of shady spots, so Las Ramblas can be enjoyed all year, even at the height of summer.
The golf course is located just 5 kilometres from the beautiful sandy beaches of Orihuela Costa, which makes it popular with groups of golfers on a weekend break as well as families.

2. Golf Club Villamartín
Like a good Spanish wine, Campo de Golf Villamartín is improving with each passing year and the area itself is a tourism hotspot during the summer months. Founded in 1972, the course has been delighting golfers of all levels for nearly 50 years who come to enjoy its lush surroundings, challenging 18 holes and extensive on-site services.
Severiano Ballesteros, José María Olazabal, Ian Woosnan and Sam Torrance have all played Villamartín and the club hosted a test of the European circuit in 1997.
The greens are beautifully designed and every club in your bag is likely to get a workout on this diverse course.
Golf Club Villamartín includes a private club, a well-stocked Pro-Golf shop and an excellent restaurant
Set a few kilometres inland and close to the extensive La Fuente Commerical Centre, which features dozens of bars and restaurants, Real Club de Golf Campoamor is one of the most renowned courses on the Costa Blanca. The exclusive resort features a private clubhouse with a high-end restaurant serving a first-class special menu prepared by resident Masterchef Epi Rubio.
First opened in 1998, the 18-hole course extends for 6,277 metres of manicured fairways and situated as it is between two valleys, Real Club de Golf Campoamor is sheltered from the wind and open all year round. What’s more, the course has been laid out in such a way that golfers don’t require buggies.
Las Colinas is barely open a decade but is has already become one of the most popular golf courses on the Orihuela Costa and has hosted such illustrious events as the European Tour Qualifying School.
Nestled in a secluded valley with panoramic views of the local coastline, it’s not hard to see why Las Colinas Golf & Country Club has frequently made it to the top of the list of the 100 best golf courses in Europe.
Spread between the neighbouring hills and challenging terrain, Las Colinas blends seamlessly into the surrounding countryside and has been celebrated for its variety, offering an extra-wide fairway, different tees on each hole and truly unique greens.
If your golfing appetite is more expansive, several other top quality courses can be found just a few kilometres away: Lo Romero Golf, Vistabella Golf Club, Greenlands, Golf & Country Club La Marquesa, Golf La Finca, Hacienda Riquelme Golf.
